Greetings, Fellow CPCU Society Members,
It’s hard to believe that we are already over halfway through 2019. Before we know it, we will be preparing for the Holidays and starting a new year. But before we start thinking that far in advance let me tell you about some fun events that we have planned for you. On August 8th we will be hosting our 2nd Member appreciation event at Petco Park. The Padres will be taking on the Colorasdo Rockies. We still have some tickets available- for more details and to register click this link: https://sandiego.cpcusociety.org/meetings-events/2019-member-appreciatio.... The CPCU Society Annual Meeting takes place this September in New Orleans, where we will celebrate our 75th Anniversary! Everyone has been working hard to provide you with amazing speakers, enhanced general sessions, increased networking opportunitites, hands on learning workshops and much more. Click here for the full agenda and registration: https://annualmeeting.cpcusociety.org/. On October 10th we will be hosting our annual All Industry Day with keynote luncheon speaker, Bill Mudge from the WCIRB. He will be talking about The “Big Four” Areas of Concern in the California Work Comp System. More details to come.
Several CPCUs in our Chapter have told me that they’ve found it hard to figure out how to report their educational activities to receive credits towards CE for CPCUs. The “Continuing Education for CPCUs Program Handbook” can help answer your questions. You can access it through this link: https://www.theinstitutes.org/sites/www.aicpcu.org/files/ti_continuing_e...
Pages 7 and 8 answer the question, How Do I Report My Activities? Qualifying activities can be either auto-reported or manually reported. An example of auto-reported is our Chapter’s May 15 Lunch and Learn. If you attended, you received one hour of CE for CPCU credit! Other examples of auto-reported are CPCU Society webinars and designated courses which are free to all Society members. All you need to do is register and attend, and the reporting is automatic. You can check out these opportunities and your reported credits by going to the Society’s Knowledge Center: https://www.theinstitutes.org/ceforcpcus/knowledgecenter/
With manual reporting, you can obtain CE for CPCU credit for activities that the provider hasn’t filed for CE for CPCU. To report these activities, follow this link https://www.theinstitutes.org/ceforcpcus and click on “Start Reporting.” I hope this helps you to get started! If you ever have questions, please feel free to reach out me or any other board member. We are happy to help.
In closing, I would like to encourage all of you to renew your membership and volunteer to support your local San Diego Chapter. If you would like to become more involved in our Chapter and help shape its future, I invite you to join our next board meeting, which is open to any current member. They are held the first Wednesday of each month at Wawanesa Insurance in Mission Valley from 12:00pm-1:00pm.
Thank you for your membership and all of your support. I look forward to seeing you at the events.
All my best,
Jeraldine Hartson CPCU, ARM, AINS, CAWC
